Comprehensive Sex Ed Isn’t About Shame

People have sex, teens have sex, you’ll probably have sex, and it’s good! We need to stop teaching abstinence-only or abstinence-first sex education. We need to stop shaming young adults for having sex. This misses the opportunity to talk about some super important concepts and practices that can lead to happy, healthy, safe sex lives. I’m tired of seeing generations of teens and adults who still don’t know how to ask for consent, how to talk about their STI status, or how to communicate with their partners about desires and preferences. I want to see more people talking openly and frequently about sex. I want to hear teens asking questions about their sexuality and feeling like they are being heard and supported. It’s normal, let’s talk! ❤️💃🏻❤️💃🏻
